Jai_the_wildlifer- Fascinating Wildlife in India

It's blog number 4 now.

I have been living in India for almost a decade now.

I have been very honoured and fortunate to have seen, a lot of wildlife here.

Animals I have seen are loads of pet dogs, cats, fish, and turtles. but in real wildlife found in national parks or reserves I have seen Snakes, Lizards, Tigers, Elephants, Crocodiles and lots of Invertebrates.

So over the years, I have seen so much wildlife; it would be obvious to give it a 10/10, and you would be correct, India is getting the first 10/10 of all the countries because of my really clear memories. But I am yet to see leopards in India.

Recently, during my trip to Ladakh, I saw brown bears - a mother and her cubs. When i went to Ladakh in June 2024, we went to a remote village in Drass in the Mushkoh valley. The roads were rocky and locals said that bears wandering in the village at night was a common yet terrifying occurrence. So we reached Drenmo lodge and instantly went to the bear deck where there were binoculars to spot bears. We waited for a while and then spotted one of the world's rarest bears- The Himalayan Brown Bear, which is Endangered. She was a mother with her cubs and they were adorable. Fast forward a few days and we climbed a mountain to see if we could spot the bears on foot and we did! A huge male who was climbing a smaller peak. We then walked around on the mountains, saw a dead horse and even saw an amazing Himalayan Griffin Vulture.

Dudhwa national Park- we saw many animals in Dudhwa including a huge rat snake, a glimpse of a tiger, got charged by an elephant and rarest of all, the Asiatic One Horned Rhino who is also found in Kaziranga, Assam. But in Dudhwa you need a special pass to enter the Rhino zone. I even took photos of a rhino crossing a dirt road. Our trip to Dudhwa was short so unfortunately we couldn't see more wildlife.

Kanha National Park- The highlight of the Kanha trip I took years ago was just a sub- adult tiger stalking a baby spotted deer, who sprinted away.

Sariska- The highlight here was seeing around 40 Mugger Crocodiles basking in the sun
